Come play!
Inspired by our signature event, Shakespeare on the Water, this college preparatory ‘club’ is led by professional teaching artist Isabelle Ellingson. A week-long festival of actors, writers, and directors working together to build a staged reading of an original student written piece. The fast-paced nature of the program is designed to play to students' strengths, preparing them for intensive ensemble training while fostering collaboration on student-written work.
Professional working guest artists will come into Club and teach workshops including Wellness for the Actor, Acting for the Camera, The Business of Making Art, and Directing Ensemble, and more!
The power of ensemble lies in the balance between creative freedom and a safe, professional structure. By gaining confidence in their preparation and deepening their creative skills, students develop foundational abilities in communication and collaboration—skills that make them stronger students overall. The week will culminate in a ticketed staged reading open to all!
Some drama training required.

Meet Isabelle.
Hi! I’m Isabelle. I started Shakespeare on the Water in 2021 as a way to engage with my peers and develop a format for us to play together. It quickly turned into a beautiful project that happens annually on the Sausalito Waterfront. I hope to continue the rich tradition of the arts in our stunning landscape, following in the footsteps of the greats—Chris Hardman of Antenna Theater and the many mariner-creatives: Otis Redding, Maya Angelou, Agnes Varda —by inspiring, engaging, and nurturing young artists. My goal is to help them develop their storytelling abilities through the power of communication, mindfulness, and grounded creativity.
I am an actress, producer and educator from Mill Valley who graduated from Tam in 2010. I went on to receive my BFA in Acting from North Carolina School of the Arts, made theater in NYC and acted in the Transformer’s film Bumblebee! I currently teach part time at Tam, and work freelance modeling, acting, producing Shakespeare on the Water. I currently teach as a guest artist in the Drama Department at Tam High, and love the way engaging students in play activates the full brain - both left and right hemispheres - deepening a child’s empathy and creating a willingness to open up not only to one another in our work together, but outside the walls of the theater as well.
